Imagine having access to a resource
that transformed the fear and pain of secondary
school into excellence.

The Study Samurai Library helps reduce the pressure, stress and anxiety of school so
students can study and learn faster and easier.

When I work with senior students I start by asking them two simple questions:

  • How do you react when you think of Year 12?
  • What message have you received about Year 12?

The answers will not surprise you. Students answer question one with responses such as:

  • Fear
  • Pressure
  • Panic
  • Anxiety
  • Overwhelmed

It’s little wonder that students feel this negatively about the senior years because they tell me the main message they hear about Year 12 is: “It’s do or die”, “It sets us up for our future”. I have two university degrees and I did not complete Year 12. I have taught students who failed to get the marks for their preferred university course. Today they are professionals in their preferred career choice. I have also taught gifted students who did very well in Year 12 and some were not able to cope with university life.

The Lie !

When our children receive the message that how they perform in school, and in particular the senior years, will set them up for their future career, success and prosperity – they are not being told the entire truth. Empowering students to develop the “grit”, the determination, the perseverance, the resilience to excel is just one of the challenges for a parent of a secondary school student.

Let us not leave out the
pressures schools now face!

Teachers are facing more and more demands and pressure to “achieve academic results”. The environment at times can be toxic for students, parents and teachers. Unfortunately, in this environment of fear, the impact can have dire and at times tragic consequences. I have a daughter and I’m saddened as a former teacher and school counselor that she is also experiencing negativity associated with learning in school. It’s little wonder that our students can seem disengaged, unmotivated, and paralysed by fear. This is not the environment conducive to personal best performance and excellence.

When you combine how to learn and study skills techniques with evidenced based resilience and peak performance techniques, you receive a potent formula for success.

Dr. Prue Salter is an expert in study skills. We also work together in schools helping senior students, parents and teachers. Together we have combined our areas of expertise – study skills and how to learn and the “mental game” that builds resilience and peak performance.

The Frustration

Both Prue and I can no longer take bookings for our Student Success Days in schools. This has created a frustration for schools and ourselves – we hate saying NO!

But that is the reality – we are booked out. Yes a good problem to have in one way, but not when we want to help school communities.

That’s why together we have created this library of resources that is guaranteed to transform the lives of the parents, teachers and students in your school.

How The Study Samurai Library Can Transform
The Fear and Negativity Of Secondary Schooling
into “Grit”, Resilience and Excellence.

  • Students, Parents and Teachers have access to the same resource and this allows for an integrated approach.
  • Rather than a one off presentation to one year group the Study Samurai Library has 75 video lessons plus the ELES Online Study Skills Handbook Resource (43 units) and the Human Connections Online Wellbeing Resource (17 modules).
  • The Study Samurai Library offers a unique combination of practical study skills and wellbeing and mindset skills that students can benefit from after they leave school.
  • Teachers and parents also benefit because they not only have the framework and tools to help their students but also benefit personally from the resources.

Here’s some of what your students, parents and teachers will learn through the Study Samurai Library resources.

  • What makes an effective learner super-efficient, and how you can develop these traits. This will make learning easier, less stressful and more rewarding.
  • How to make killer brain-friendly study notes, and how students can save time by learning the most effective ways for them to remember these notes.
  • How to be a time management guru – managing workload, distractions, procrastination… and that’s just for starters. Time management secrets revealed so students can still have a life while they’re in secondary school.
  • Discovering the “core” reason to excel in Year 12 after the fear is removed. This alone will transform students and their families, because the motivation to excel becomes an inner drive rather than external pressures to perform.
  • How to use the two drivers of human behaviour to push past procrastination. When you know what makes you do what you do, you can use this to ensure you take action on the key tasks that create excellence.
  • How to apply 3 simple strategies to change your mental and emotional state. These strategies are proven to minimise negative thoughts and emotions, and maximise positive mental and emotional states. Students are surprised and excited when they experience this shift in less than a minute with these strategies.
